West Ham will listen to offers for captain Declan Rice, according to insider source ExWHUEmployee.
When asked whether a recent report about the Hammers’ stance on selling the player was true, Ex revealed that he has confirmed the accuracy of the claims with his own sources, going on to explain the background with a subsequent tweet:
Yes unfortunately ⚒

It is something that I think we have been prepared for. If he doesn’t sign a new deal, which I understand as it’s not about money it’s about winning things for him, then as a club we have to cash in when we can get most value.

The news won’t come as a surprise to many West Ham supporters but it is something that they were hoping to avoid. With the London club struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table, though, it doesn’t look likely that they can fulfil Rice‘s ambitions.
As Ex mentions, the midfielder has refused to sign a new contract and that means his value will only decrease over the next couple of years. Although his current deal does expire in 2024, West Ham have the option to extend his stay for a further twelve months which gives the Irons some breathing room.
However, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all circling, it appears that Rice will be leaving the London Stadium in the not-too-distant future.
