ExWHUemployee Claims 110K A Week Wage Demands Could Scupper West Ham’s Attempts To Sign ‘No.1’ Target

West Ham have seemingly cooled their interest in Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham in recent weeks, despite the 23-year-old being on the market.

Earlier in the summer, the England international was described as the Hammers’ number one target by insider source ExWHUemployee, who now explains why the London club have slipped to the back of the pack in the race for the forward’s signature:

“I’ve spoken about him being the number one target. David Moyes really, really rates him. There’s a number of issues – firstly, the club doesn’t value him the same as what Chelsea do, the club reckons it’s going to be £40million. I’ve heard it’s more like £30/£35million. They’re also saying his wage demands are too high – he’s on about £80,000-a-week now, from what I know, he’s looking to be more in line with £100,000-£110,000.”

£110,000 a week isn’t a great deal when it comes to a player’s salary in the modern game but it appears West Ham are being very strict in regards to keeping a lid on their wage bill.

It does mean, though, that they will likely miss out on Abraham, with the likes of Arsenal and Atalanta also said to be very keen on securing the striker’s services.

The Irons are reportedly considering other options, including Liverpool’s Divock Origi, but nothing seems to be at an advanced stage yet.
