Cresswell aiming to relieve Bilic pressure

West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell had admitted his team must perform against newly promoted Huddersfield next week if they are to ease the pressure on themselves and manager Slavan Bilic.

The Hammers have lost all three of their opening three Premier League games and sit bottom of the table. They face Huddersfield on Monday night football, a high flying team whose fortunes are much the opposite of West Ham’s. David Wagner has steered his side joint second with Liverpool in the table after two victories and a draw, and Cresswell says it is a massive game for the Hammers.

“It’s our first home game and we really need to kick-start our season – that’s what we’ll be looking to do,” said the England left-back.

“We know that it is not good enough to get three defeats on the spin, but we’re the only ones who can affect that and we will work hard to put things right.”

Asked about the pressure on manager Slavan Bilic, Cresswell added: “We don’t really get involved in that.”

“Of course we don’t want to negative stuff, we want to turn that around into a positive and only results and good performances do that.”

“That’s what we’ll be looking to do against Huddersfield and hopefully we’ll stop all this [speculation over Bilic’s future].”

“Huddersfield have had a tremendous start and we want to stop that on Monday by getting thre three points.”
