Could This Starlet Be The Answer To West Ham United’s Goalscoring Woes In The Premier League?

West Ham United’s goalscoring record in the Premier League this season has not been good enough. Several of the Hammers’ attacking players, such as Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen, have not performed to the peak of their abilities on a consistent basis during this campaign.

Additionally, star summer signing Gianluca Scamacca has been sadly underwhelming – although he hasn’t been helped out by David Moyes’ negative tactical approach. While the Scot’s defensive mindset has helped to keep West Ham from conceding too many goals – they’ve let in fewer than both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United this season – it has come at the cost of entertaining football.

With the Hammers’ Premier League status hanging in the balance, they need to come up with an answer to keep their heads above water – and fast.

Thankfully, West Ham have a young man within their ranks who could be given a run in the first team – Divin Mubama. He’s yet to score a Premier League goal for the Irons, but he has looked great in the Europa Conference League.

Mubama scored his debut goal for West Ham against AEK Larnaca with a clever flick – he showed good awareness, timing and composure to find the back of net. For a player of his age, it made for very promising viewing.

The 18-year-old has played for England at several different youth levels – currently, he turns out for the under-19 squad. He was perhaps most impressive at under-18 level, where he scored three goals in seven appearances.

He has had a brilliant year for West Ham’s under-21s in the Premier League 2. So far, Mubama has scored eleven goals in 15 games, alongside a solitary assist. Could he replicate this in England’s top division?
