Darwin Nunez

Liverpool and Manchester City made their moves early in the summer to secure the signatures of Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland. Both players have consequently hit the ground running. In contrast, Manchester United have once again been scrambling around for potential signings late on in the transfer window.

Erik ten Hag’s side may have made three purchases (including the significant addition of Lautaro Martinez from Ajax), but they have failed to address key weaknesses in the squad. Their lengthy pursuit of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong could end up proving fruitless and the wasted effort may cost them dearly.
