Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are “unlikely” to make a move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice this summer, according to ESPN.

The website claims that circumstances may mean that Manchester United are the only club that could realistically make an attempt to sign the England international.

Rice has rejected another contract from the Hammers in recent weeks but, with a deal that effectively runs until 2025, there is no need to sell the player when the transfer window opens.

ESPN claim the salary that United proposes may be what tempts Rice into making the switch to Old Trafford. He is reportedly earning £62,000 a week but the Red Devils would be prepared to triple or even quadruple that figure.

It is not all about the money, though, and United’s current problems mean they are not the draw they once were. With the Manchester club not even in the Champions League next season, you would have to think that Rice would turn his nose up at the move.
