Chelsea Prepared To Double West Ham Starlet’s Wages If He Moves To Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are weighing up a move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, according to Metro.co.uk.

The Blues are reportedly looking to capitalise on the 19-year-old’s contract dispute with the Hammers. The player’s current deal expires in 2020 but West Ham are keen to secure the midfielder for the long term.

Rice is currently earning just £3,000 a week despite becoming a regular first-team player under manager Manuel Pellegrini this season.

It has been reported that the Irons have made a final offer to the player worth £20,000 a week, with some of the salary based on appearances and other incentives.

However, the Metro say that Chelsea would be prepared to double that and give Rice £40,000 a week to move to Stamford Bridge.

West Ham may have to reluctantly sell one of their brightest young talents in the summer if the teenager doesn’t sign a new deal, or they could risk losing him for nothing in 18 months’ time.
