Carragher Names West Ham Star Who “Reminds” Him of Roy Keane In His PL Team Of The Season

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has selected West Ham midfielder Declan Rice in his Premier League team of the season.

The England international has been in excellent form this campaign, and Carragher says his style of play is reminiscent of a former Manchester United captain:

“I just think Declan Rice reminds me of an old-fashioned midfield player who plays in a two. He reminds me of Roy Keane. He is not just a holding midfield player, he drives forward with the ball. He is more than a sitting player.”

Rice certainly deserves recognition for his performances but we shall have to wait and see whether he can live up to Carragher’s comparison to Keane, who won seven league titles during his time with United.

In terms of the rest of Carragher’s team, he (somewhat unsurprisingly) chose five Liverpool players, including Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah.

Manchester City trio Joao Cancelo, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva also made his eleven, along with Tottenham strike pairing Son Heung-min and Harry Kane. Considering his superb season, Rice’s teammate Jarrod Bowen may feel hard done by with regards to being left out by Carragher.
