West Ham could miss out on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard with Brighton now expected to make a bid for the Frenchman, according to reports in the UK.
The Hammers, along with Arsenal and Southampton have been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old but it appears the Seagulls could be the ones to make the first move.
Edouard has already been the subject of a bid from Leicester this summer, but the Foxes were unable to come to an agreement over an asking price, with Celtic said to be holding out for around £20m.
That is unlikely to be a problem for Brighton who will soon have a sizeable transfer budget once Ben White’s £50m move to Arsenal is finalised.
For West Ham, though, the search for a striker doesn’t look like it will end any time soon. While it is believed Edouard was not a priority target, he would have been a much cheaper option than Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham.
