West Ham fullback Jeremy Ngakia was one of the best players on the park as the Hammers narrowly lost 3-2 at Anfield last night.
The 19-year-old was making only his second senior start for the London club, but his composure on the ball and his energy played a key part in a much-improved performance from David Moyes’ side.
Supporters on Twitter felt that Ngakia was very impressive:
Ngakia is a breath of fresh air when there is a lot of stink around the club. The kid deserves to see out the season it's something positive for us all to cling too as well

A reminder that Ngakia is 19 years old. What a performance from the youngster, up against the best attack in the world at the moment

19-year-old Jeremy Ngakia played very well for West Ham. Taking on Sadio Mané is a nightmare if you've ever seen one. But he made some crucial last-ditch effort, won 7/9 tackles, made 3 ball recoveries, 3 interceptions, and 4 clearances. Really impressive

Done very well in both games, he has to get a run in the team

I would keep him in the team for Saturday

Better on the ball than Fredericks and Zabeleta.

I don't think there should be any question of doubt whether he starts next game.

With the exception of one challenge on Mane, the teenager dealt with the threat of the Senegalese international very well despite his lack of experience at first-team level.
Ngakia could well have more opportunities over the coming weeks, with Ryan Fredericks’ shoulder injury likely to keep him out for a while. There has been no date given for the 27-year-old’s return.
After his excellent performance last night, it would not be a surprise if the right-back is given the nod ahead of Pablo Zabaleta once again for Saturday’s crucial game against Southampton.
