‘Bossed the Show’ – These West Ham Fans Hail Teenager’s Commanding Display Against Everton

West Ham’s Declan Rice performed very well in the holding midfield role against Everton yesterday.

Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini went with a more defensive minded midfield trio with the 19-year-old lining up alongside captain Mark Noble and Pedro Obiang at Goodison Park.

Despite being far more inexperienced than the other two central midfielders, Rice was the stand out player in the middle of the park. Irons fans were quick to praise the teenager:

The defender/defensive midfielder has yet to decide on whether he wants to play for England or the Republic of Ireland, and on this display, Gareth Southgate may want to contact the player to persuade him to play for the Three Lions.

For Hammers supporters, the main concern will be tying down Rice to a new contract. The youngster is currently in a stand-off with the club over an extension to his current deal which expires next summer.

The club do have an option to extend his current contract for a further year, but they will want to come to an agreement over a longer stay at the London Stadium.
