West Ham will go back in for Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard in the January transfer window, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Twitter ITK was speaking on his West Ham Way podcast when he confirmed that the Hammers retain an interest in the 28-year-old, who is believed to be open to a return after getting limited game time this season at Old Trafford.
Supporters on Twitter had a mixed reaction to the news, with some dismissive of the claims while others were looking forward to having Lingard back:

Only because we are doing well

Think we should wait for the summer until his contract has run out. He rejected us and now when he doesn’t get game time he wants to come back…Think we should spend the money on a backup striker and backup left back. He is 3rd priority.

Shocking behaviour from some people slating him for going back to Man U! Imagine if we sent Nobes out on loan for half a season & he came back because it's the boyhood club he loved 🤦🏻♂️ As good as we are right now Lingard improves us and adds depth & even £15m is a steal!

Would love to see the band back together, @JesseLingard would give us the push we might need second half of the season. And we can show him some love he not getting with them. Come on Jesse you know it makes sense

With Lingard’s contract expiring at the end of the season, the England international should be available for a pretty low price.
There could be competition for the forward’s signature but, considering he has expressed an interest in coming back to the London Stadium, West Ham would be firm favourites to snap up the player. We shall see how things play out in the coming months.
