West Ham United are just one game away from reaching a European final. Can David Moyes’ men finish the job against AZ Alkmaar?
The Hammers have not had the most impressive of campaigns in the Premier League – as such, winning the Europa Conference League would be a great way to restore the fans’ confidence.
The Irons will be without summer signing Gianluca Scamacca for their game against AZ. Additionally, Vladimir Coufal and Michail Antonio are both doubts – it’s likely they, too, will miss out on Thursday night’s game.
In the first leg of the tie, West Ham came away with a 2-1 win over AZ. It was a struggle for the Hammers, however, as they went 1-0 towards the end of the first half with a goal from Tijjani Reijnders.
In the second period, West Ham fought back and began to grow into the tie. Said Benrahma equalised with a penalty in the 67th minute, which was soon followed up by a goal from Michail Antonio.
This comeback win will give West Ham the advantage in the second leg at the AFAS Stadium – but the game is far from over at this stage.
