BBC pundit Alan Shearer has praised West Ham’s club record signing Lucas Paqueta after his performance against Fulham at the weekend.
The Brazilian’s perfectly weighted assist for Gianluca Scamacca’s goal helped David Moyes’ side take the lead on Saturday, and Shearer recognised the key role he played in the Hammers’ victory:
“He was at the heart of everything good that West Ham United did, and set up their second goal.”
Shearer was commenting on Paqueta after naming him in his Premier League ‘Team of the Week’. The eleven also included Arsenal trio Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Takehiro Tomiyasu after the Gunners won 3-2 against Liverpool at the weekend.
Chelsea’s Mason Mount was selected as well, along with Manchester City duo Joao Cancelo & Phil Foden, Newcastle pair Kieran Trippier & Bruno Guimaraes, Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
From a West Ham perspective, though, it seems Paqueta is starting to find his feet in English football. Adapting to the Premier League is not easy for foreign players but it looks as if he could make a big impact in this country.
