Arsenal vs West Ham: Injury Update

West Ham are left with a very unfortunate fixture list until the end of the season. Facing Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Leicester and Everton in under 20 days will be a true test for the Londoners. These last 5 games are make or break for the club and every mistake matters.

If you are a glass half full person you could say that the Hammers start this trial by fire with the 2 teams most likely to lose – regardless of how strange that may sound at first glance.

Truth is though, Arsenal are not in the best of form and have lost hope to get in next year’s Champions League through the PL standings so may rest players for the Europa League semi-final and City have already won the Premier League so their level of focus may not be the same.

Despite all that though, West Ham will still have a tough time getting 6 points out of their next two matches mostly because the below injuries:

Pedro Obiang – Knee Ligament Injury – Out since January and expected to return in the summer.
Sam Byram – Ankle Injury – Out since the beginning of March with no return date set.
Michail Antonio – Hamstring pull – Out since the beginning of April with no return date set.
Winston Reid – Concussion – Out for over a month now with no return date set.
James Collins – Hamstring Injury – Out for a month so far and it is unlikely we will see the Welshman on the pitch against Arsenal.

Arsenal on the other hand are unexpectedly fit for this game with only 2 players expected to miss the match out of 4 currently injured:

Aaron Ramsey – Shin gash – out for a week but expected to be available on Sunday.
Jack Wilshere – Ankle problem – out since the UEFA Europa League game like Ramsey but he also is expected to be available on Sunday.
Cazorla and Mkhitaryan will not be available on game day. While Mkhitaryan is expected to return before the end of the year, Cazorla will almost certainly be unavailable for the rest of the season.

It’s hard to tell what will happen on Sunday as Arsenal are not concentrating on the Premier League anymore but still remain one of the best teams in the Premier League and they have their pride and they will be playing for Arsene Wenger to send him off in style. West Ham’s inconsistent performances make things complicated as well.

Despite having a decent squad, they have struggled and lost key games throughout the past months. Hopefully for the Hammers these last games will go well despite all the injured players and the quality of their opponents and David Moyes can secure a win or 2 which will leave West Ham safe from relegation.
