Arsenal are lining up a summer bid for West Ham defender Issa Diop, according to the Mirror. The newspaper claims that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a fan of the Frenchman and is keen on signing him to reinforce his team’s defence.
It is believed that the Hammers would be prepared to offload the 23-year-old in the event the club are relegated. However, with the Coronavirus outbreak, it remains to be seen whether the campaign will be completed.
Even if they do remain in the Premier League next season, though, the Mirror reports that West Ham would demand “more than double” the £22.5m they paid Toulouse for the player almost two years ago.
Whether £45m would be an acceptable figure for the Irons, it is up for debate. When Manchester United were reportedly interested in Diop last year, it was said that the London club would not settle for less than £50m.
