Arnautovic thanks West Hams for ‘patience’ after difficult start to the season

Marko Arnautovic has thanked the West Ham fans for their patience after what he described as a ‘difficult’ start to life in East London.

The Austrain joined the Hammers from Stoke City last summer as a club record signing, but endured a difficult start to his life at the London Stadium.

The 29-year-old was sent off in only his second game for the club, and failed to score in his first 13 games.

However, after scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory over Chelsea back in December, he went on to finish as the club’s top scorer this season – finding the net 11 times as West Ham finished 13th in the Premier League table.

And following his debut campaign, the Austria international has paid homage to the Claret and Blue army for their patience with him.

“It was tough at the start for me, for sure, but I have worked hard and found my form and I love being part of this Club and playing for these fans, who have shown me so much love,” he said.

“I want to apologise for the first three months! I tried to work hard and give everything and I want to thank my teammates and the fans for everything.”
