Arnautovic heaps praise on ‘no nonsense’ Moyes

West Ham United record-signing Marko Arnautovic has hailed the work of new boss David Moyes after the Hammers overcame London rivals Chelsea 1-0 at the London Stadium.

Arnautovic scored the winner in the game, his first goal for the club, and the result is West Ham’s first win under new manager Moyes.

Eyebrows were raised when Moyes took charge of the Hammers to replace Slaven Bilic, and a few bold decisions have already been made by the Scot.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart was dropped for the game in place of Adrian, a huge decision by Moyes but one that has paid off – and Arnautovic says Moyes’ hard work approach is benefiting the team.

“Every day we have to work hard under this coach and there are no excuses,” said Arnautovic. “Everybody needs to do his main job and do two or three more jobs on the pitch.

“We are working hard as a team and I think you could see that in the game and if we continue to do that, we will be hard to beat.”

It is West Ham’s first league win since September, and despite still being in the relegation zone many are confident the Hammers are on the up.

“We need to keep up this level,” the Austrian added.

“It’s a busy month and we’re going to have a game every three days so it’s going to be hard, so we need to recover well and go again against Arsenal on Wednesday.”
