West Ham are weighing up a possible approach for Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier, according to reports in the English media.
The Hammers are said to be looking to strengthen their options in central midfield, with Carlos Sanchez leaving at the end of the season, and they have identified the Spurs star as a potential candidate.
News of the club’s interest in Dier has been met with a mixed reaction from fans on Twitter:

I dont think he would be a bad signing for us he is a decent defensive mid but it is such a west ham signing

Dier would have been a good signing a few years back but his form has dropped off a cliff in recent seasons, and it’s unlikely that the Irons would be able to get him for a reasonable price.
The England international has only started ten league games this campaign, and his most recent appearances have been as a centre-back under manager Jose Mourinho.
Unless Declan Rice leaves, a move for Dier doesn’t seem likely but we shall have to wait and see when the transfer window reopens.
