West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere scored his first goal for the club in the 2-0 win over Newport County in the Carabao Cup last night.
A much-changed Hammers side struggled to get to grips with their League Two opponents in the first half and had a few scares before Wilshere capitalised on a defensive mistake to slot home two minutes before the interval.
Fans on Twitter are hoping that Wilshere kicks on after his performance yesterday:
A great all-round performance from Jack; different class.

The 27-year-old certainly had something to prove after missing out on the matchday squad entirely for the 3-1 win against Watford last weekend.
Wilshere was certainly one of the better performers on the night as West Ham had to battle against a tough opponent. It’s clear he is still not 100% match fit as he was taken off ten minutes before the end.
Whether he’ll return to the team for the game against Norwich City this weekend, we shall have to wait and see.
