West Ham have tabled an opening bid for Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares, according to reports in the Portuguese media.
The defender has been out on loan at Marseille this season and the Gunners are thought to be prepared to let him go for just €8m (£7m).
Despite the modest price tag, though, not many fans on Twitter are keen on the Hammers bringing Tavares to the London Stadium:
Awful player

With Aaron Cresswell having signed a one-year contract extension and Emerson Palmieri still in the squad, it’s hard to see where Tavares would fit in anyway.
The fullback had a strong start to his time with Marseille, scoring three goals in his first four league games, but his performances have progressively got worse as the season has gone on.
On top of that, there are questions about Tavares’s discipline. Manager Igor Tudor reportedly sent the player home from training in early April for a lack of effort. However, the Portuguese star has played in four games since that incident.
