Fabian Balbuena
The Paraguayan’s nickname ‘The General’ was meant to denote the defender’s authority and commanding presence, but the 28-year-old has looked anything but a leader at the back this season.
Balbuena started the 5-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening day and was subsequently benched by Manuel Pellegrini. He has featured under David Moyes but he has been an unused substitute in the Hammers’ last eight league games.
