5 Soon To Be Out Of Contract Players Who PL Clubs Could Sign On The Cheap In January

With just over a week to go before the January transfer window opens, speculation is already rife about who could move clubs next month.

The winter market is not usually a time for club-record signings, with most of the teams doing business to strengthen glaring weaknesses in their squad.

Opportunistic deals can also occur, especially if clubs are keen to offload certain players who have decided not to renew their current deals.

Press the next page as we list five players who could be sold for bargain prices due to their contract situations.

Denis Zakaria

The Swiss international is reportedly available for just €7m (£6m) in January, with Borussia Monchengladbach keen to prevent him from leaving for nothing.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are the Premier League teams who have been most heavily linked with Zakaria but, considering his availability for such a low fee, dozens of clubs could be looking to snap him up.

Boubacar Kamara

Much like Zakaria, Marseille are thought to be considering whether to offload Kamara next month, with Manchester United said to be at the front of the queue for his signature.

The French midfielder is only 22 years of age, and the club that manages to secure his services will undoubtedly get a bargain, with the player having massive potential.

Sam Johnstone

West Brom are reportedly keen on offloading the England international in January, although the player himself does look to be favouring a move on a free transfer next summer.

A goalkeeper of Johnstone’s quality doesn’t come available every day, though, so a team, like West Ham, may well chance their arm with a low bid.

Divock Origi

Liverpool can extend the Belgian international’s stay at Anfield for another year but the Reds have, so far, decided not to trigger their option.

Origi has been a peripheral figure for most of his seven and a half years with the Reds, but he has scored some crucial goals and he could benefit from playing regular football somewhere else. The Hammers are reportedly in the frame to sign the striker.

Eddie Nketiah

The 22-year-old has made it clear that he intends to leave the Emirates, having rejected a number of contract offers from the Gunners in recent months.

It is still assumed that Nketiah will run down his current deal but both the player and his club would probably be open to a January move if the offer is attractive enough.
