5 Goalkeepers West Ham May Look To Target Next Month

West Ham are actively looking for a replacement for Roberto, according to reports in the English media. The Spaniard has not been seen since the 3-2 defeat to Tottenham in November and could well be off in the January transfer window.

Third choice goalkeeper David Martin has performed pretty well as his replacement, but the feeling is that the Hammers are keen to bring in another understudy to Lukasz Fabianski next month.

Due to Premier League rules, it’s very likely that West Ham will be looking for a shot-stopper who qualifies as part of their homegrown quota.

So, who will the Irons be looking at? Press the “next page” to see the five goalkeepers who could be targets in January.

Darren Randolph

The former West Ham goalkeeper is reportedly being considered as a possible option. The Republic of Ireland international moved to Middlesbrough for £5m in 2017.

However, Boro are strapped for cash and may well be looking to offload the 32-year-old for the right price next month.

Asmir Begovic

The ex-Chelsea keeper doesn’t have a future at Bournemouth, and could well be released on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of December.

He is currently on loan at Azeri side Qarabag but he is said to be keen on a move back to England during the January transfer window.

Jack Butland

The England international is likely to be available, but his club Stoke City are believed to be holding out for £20m, which will be well above the Hammers’ price range.

The Potters are struggling financially, though, and may be prepared to sell up for well below that figure.

Wayne Hennessey

The Wales international is currently number two to Vicente Guaita at Crystal Palace and could be looking to move next month.

Whether the Eagles would be prepared to let him go may depend on the offer they receive. The 32-year-old has 18 months left to run on his contract at Selhurst Park.

Neil Etheridge

The Phillippines international was outstanding for Cardiff in the Premier League last season but had found himself out of the first-team picture this campaign until quite recently.

Alex Smithies started the season as first choice, and the Bluebirds may well be open to selling one of their two keepers in January.
