Despite the introduction of Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR) in recent years, clubs still have a lot of flexibility to splash out on new signings due to funds received from TV rights.

Across the summer and winter transfer window this season, the top five biggest spenders in England shelled out €1.375bn on new additions.
