Club ‘Prepared’ To Go Toe To Toe With Chelsea In Fight For 70m Rated West Ham Star

Manchester United are “prepared” to get involved in the battle to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice next summer, according to ESPN.

Reports last week suggested that the Hammers vice-captain would prefer to stay in London, making Chelsea favourites to sign the 22-year-old if he were to leave the club.

However, despite knowing they are the underdogs in the race, United could well make a move for the England international with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen on adding another holding midfield player to his squad.

West Ham would very much like to keep Rice, with it being suggested that the Irons could offer him a contract extension. They have, though, reportedly slapped a £70m price tag on the player to ward off interested clubs.

Whether that would deter United from making a bid, though, it remains to be seen. ESPN say Rice is already aware of the Red Devils’ interest so West Ham may have to brace themselves for possible offers at the end of the season.
